House cleaning for Dog Owners
Baking soda is a simple and cost-effective method to keep your carpets smell fresh.
- Sprinkle a little bit of the mixture on the carpet, and let it rest for a couple of hours; after that, simply vacuum it.
Make your home smell fresher by using baking soda. It's your own air freshener.
- Mix 1/4 cup baking soda and water into a spray bottle, and shake it well. (You can also add cinnamon, vanilla extract, or essential oils too.) Baking soda absorbs the pet's (or another unpleasant) smell. Vinegar sprays in the air can also eliminate pet smells.
Set a fabric sheet softener close to your pet's most loved places.
- Decided not to let your pet climb on the furniture but has already discovered his/her favorite spots to lay in the home. Is one of his/her favorite spots close to the sofa, for example? Put a softener under the cushion, next to the place he/she sleeps, to help fight the dog odor. Also, he/she can have his/her own blanket to lay on, which you should try to wash each week.
Set up mats inside and outside the door to stop dirt that is able to enter the home
- There's more going on and off the house right now, and you should make it a habit of it for your pet to clean her paws on the door. It is also suggested to install mats doors' outside and inside to prevent dirt before it gets into the home.
You should immediately clean up any spills so that your dog will not believe that the area is a toilet for him/her.
- Do not use cleaning products containing ammonia because they smell like urine for dogs. A homemade cleaning solution you can use to clean up accidents with pets is quite simple to prepare. It is made by mixing 1 one quart of water that is hot, 1 teaspoon dish soap, and one teaspoon of white vinegar. Blot the area using towels, then wet it with the homemade cleaner, and allow it to rest for about 15 mins prior to cleaning it up again.
Always place a mat underneath the food bowl to help with cleaning up and ensure that the majority of food or water particles are off of your floors.
Vacuum frequently.
- You can increase the frequency of your vacuuming by two times a week. It's not a heavy cleansing type of vacuuming but can reduce fur. This can't be too much of a concern for your pet; however, be aware that when he/she gets bigger and grows, so will his/her hair problem.
Maintaining a clean home with pets isn't always difficult. It's not that difficult; however, it requires different routines. A bit of training for you and your dog (and children!) can ensure that you are successful in maintaining a clean home.
