Tips for keeping your home clean with a dog that is messy
If there's one thing we are aware of is the importance of keeping a tidy and healthy house. Also, we love our animal companions. We've compiled this pet-friendly list of suggestions to prevent the fur and dirt from encroaching on your house.
- Regular grooming. One of the most frequent pet owners' complaints is the hair, the tangled clumps that swoop across the baseboards, and the couch that was once white but is now whatever color your dog is. Regular grooming can help reduce the amount of hair shed. It isn't necessary to find an expert groomer; you can simply groom your dog at least once a week. It can be fun for your dog and will help to strengthen your bond. Cleanse outside if you are able to in order to eliminate skin particles within the house that could cause allergies. Regular bathing is essential in reducing smells of "dog stink." Clean dogs are a vital part of the home that is kept clean by a dog!
- Make sure to clean muddy paws prior to when they enter the home. Make sure you have an extra towel or a small tub of water by the doorway to clean the paws when your dog comes to the door from the yard or after a walk.
- Exercise your dog regularly. Do not skimp on walks. A bored dog can be an unruly dog. Bring your dog for regularly scheduled walks (or runs according to what breed you choose). Provide them with enrichment toys when they're at the house or out in the yard for them to focus their attention on their enjoyable activities, that is, not pulling the stuffing off of the bulbs or pillows from the garden.
- Put a placemat on your pet's bowl. It is best to choose a placemat that will be easily cleaned using soap and water or a rug or mat that you can put in the washer along with a load every other week. This can help minimize the risk of spills of water and food. We're talking about using stainless steel or silicone that is non-porous dishes and food bowls for your pet's food. Plastics with pores could harbor bacteria that could cause harm to your pet.
- Vacuum as much as you can. There is no other way to avoid it. Even if you're washing your dog's hair as well as wiping them clean, there's always going to be dirt and pet hair within the home. It's inevitable. The more you clean more often, the better. We recommend households with pets to clean all of their homes every week, at a minimum, and areas with high traffic being cleaned more frequently. If you have pets or children, it is possible to vacuum the entire house at least twice per week. It's an enormous amount of work, but it's going to greatly improve the quality of your life.
